Jessica [Maternity]

May 7th, 2013 by admin

I was so excited to be able to photograph Jessica and Clara (big sister) before their big arrival! With just a couple of weeks left until her due date, Jessica managed to have me to her home to take advantage of this fleeting moment. I am so impressed with what Jessica has been up to these past few weeks. They MOVED! Can you believe it? Moving isn’t very fun when you’re not pregnant but pregnant makes it even harder. Throw in a 2 year old and it starts feeling like an impossible task (trust me, I’ve done it!). Amazingly she was still up for having me over! Can’t wait to hear that baby has arrived.

When Clara was born Jessica planted a Cherry Blossom tree in her honor. With this baby, a lilac tree will be planted :)

I may have found someone that will, some day, get as annoyed with me and my picture taking as my own kids. My nephew. But that’s ok, I am going to keep snapping away. It’s ok for a number of reasons. It’s ok because it’s important to have documented images of fun times, events, holiday, etc. It’s ok because sometimes a photographer just can’t help keeping the camera tucked away when a cute face is around and it’s especially ok when mom, dad, family, future wife want to sit down and look at a timeline like this one. My husband and I do it often with our two boys and it never fails, we end up sitting for a BIG chunk of time reminiscing on those times past. It is just so much fun. And so amazing to watch the transformation that has happened in such a short amount of time. Sounds cliche doesn’t it?

I think it’s so special to have these little treasures to have and to pass on.

I’ve actually never blogged on this sweet boy. My brother, sister in law and nephew live North of Seattle so I don’t get to bug him with the camera as much as I’d like. But when we’re together, the camera is likely there. Putting this progression together (just a few of my favorites of him) had me sitting here doing the same thing I do with my own kids’ photos: smile, shake head in disbelief that he has grown so much and repeat.

This is a wonderful example of why having family photos and/or photos of your kids taken REGULARLY is so important. Just look at the changes! All in just 15 months. Never again will he change as quickly as he has thus far.

Albertini Kids

This was my second surprise shoot of the holiday season. I certainly don’t care for having surprises done on myself but I absolutely love being a part of a surprise for someone else. You would never know from the look of it that we were battling the setting sun, the rain and a run away dog. The kids just went with the flow. I honestly couldn’t have asked for 3 easier kids! In fact, they were extremely helpful to me during the shoot. How lucky am I?! To top it all off, the older two even kept it a secret. I’m amazed.

Thanks Jen for having me over. I’m so glad your surprise was a success.

Deluca Family

Marisa contacted me in November to do a surprise shoot of her and her brothers as a gift for their parents. It was first intended as an anniversary gift but turned into a Christmas gift as time went on. I’ve been wanting to share these for a very long time! Not only are these three absolutely stunning, they all have big hearts. I thought it was such a thoughtful gift to go in on together. I received a message from Marisa on Christmas saying that she had put together an album for her parents and as soon as her mom opened it tears were flowing. I think their mission was accomplished!

Figgat Holiday Homecoming

December 25th, 2012 by admin

I could definitely get used to being present at homecomings! Wow, what a thrill. Mitch was a little late in getting in and my heart was pounding so incredibly hard. It’s such a high for me as a photographer to watch these loved ones come in, I certainly can’t imaging how it feels as a parent or spouse! Thank you Figgat family for having me there with you. What a great holiday it will be with your whole family together.

Greg & Jess [Engaged]

December 22nd, 2012 by admin

I can’t even begin to describe how much fun this engagement session was. Before heading on their new adventure yesterday (moving to IL), they lived in an INCREDIBLE studio in downtown Portland (you’ll see  that building at the bottom of the post). Being the city people that they are it was only fitting to visit a number of different locations, including some downtown property. Being the suburb girl that I am, I don’t frequent the downtown area often, so it was a fun field trip for me too. As you’ll see in the images, these two made my job quite easy. I had been warned that they don’t like to smile in front of the camera and wouldn’t be ‘natural’. They couldn’t have been more wrong!

Lots of luck in your new town and on the rest of your lives together. You’ll be missed by many in the Portland area!

Chase Family Reunion

Here is the second and final part of the Chase Family Reunion (see first part here). This shoot was such a thrill for me. Filled with adrenaline, anticipation, excitement and lots of emotion. It was quite an honor to be present for such a special time in the lives of this family. I hope that I get to do many more in the future. For now, here’s to an amazing new start for the Chase family in California. You will be missed by many but I am sure the new adventure will be an amazing one. Andy, thank you again for your service to this country.

Gilmore [Family]

December 6th, 2012 by admin

What a blast it was to hang out with this family outside of our normal play dates! My oldest son and Grady (the sweet 3 year old pictured below) are great pals. For now, my younger son isn’t allowed too close to Keaton. As he tends to just poke his eyes and pull at his face. But we have high hopes that they too will be great buddies. If you recognize Keaton (baby pictured) and/or this family you may remember I posted a blog post from his first hours of life (it can be viewed here ). As I expected, this turned out to be a picture perfect session. Beautiful family, excellent kids and beautiful surroundings! It just doesn’t get much better than that.

A big thanks to the Gilmore’s!

Chase Family Homecoming [Just a Peek]

I am far too impatient to not share a few more images from Saturday night. A big blog post will be happening shortly, but until then, here are just a few.

I am so happy for this newly reunited family!
